The decision for the current building project was put in place because: 

• Students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff have voiced that the science labs need updating.
• Several classes are sharing classrooms creating difficulties and restrictions with creative timetables. 
  • We have four Indonesian language and culture classes sharing two classrooms.
  • We currently have Biology and Chemistry sharing the same lab, which we combined for safety.
• Our Accrediting bodies have recommended change in these spaces since 2015.
  • “A reassessment of the available learning spaces is clearly needed.”
  • “Some spaces urgently require work to make them more effective: the laboratories, some sporting facilities, and the Library.”
  • “A walk around the learning spaces highlighted  several that could be remodeled or upgraded. The first of these is the science laboratories.”
• Alumni that visit the BIS campus are always excited to see how the BIS campus changes and have indicated that the science labs seem the same. 
• We currently use the auditorium stage for IBDP exams. This takes away from other grade levels using the space during the month of IBDP exams.
