Student Council (STUCO)
The BIS STUCO team consists of a group of students with strong leaderships skills who help to liaise between the administration and student body. At BIS, we value what students have to say. The BIS STUCO team meets regularly with the Head of School to collaborate on projects and inform the Head of School of the student morale as well as suggestions they have for improvement.
The BIS STUCO has planned many events for both the Middle and High school students including movie nights, talent shows, spirit weeks, student dances, and more. They have also collaborated with the administration and faculty to complete accreditation documents and revise the mission, vision, and values for the school.
The BIS STUCO includes three groups, the Executive Council, the Internal Council, and the Class Representatives. The Executive Council is made up of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Communications Officer. The Internal Council is in place to make sure that historical knowledge within the STUCO is not lost and to advise the Executive Council on practices, procedures, and past initiatives. There are two Class Representatives per grade level who report to the Executive Council from their respective grade levels. The Executive Council and Class Representatives are elected by the students while the Internal Council is appointed by the Executive Council.
Through this system, BIS ensures that all student voices are heard and that they are part of the strategic plan directing the school forward each year.
