The BIS Board of Directors is a group of dedicated BIS parents who have made the decision to serve the school and its community.  The Board is comprised of seven members who serve for three years.  As per Board policy, there can only be two members serving simultaneously that represent the same nationality.  To join the Board, potential members must submit a letter of application; the voting takes place during the Foundation Meeting that takes place during the second semester.

Board Update February 2026

Dear BIS Dragons,

Ramadan Mubarak and Blessed Lent for those who participate in these important religious traditions. I spent the weekend in Surabaya, cheering my heart out for the boys and girls basketball teams as they competed against other international schools from all over Indonesia. Although we didn’t bring a banner home, I am proud of what our young men and women have accomplished. They grew in their skills, self-confidence, teamwork, and worked through challenges together. Go Dragons!

In this week’s newsletter, I thought I’d highlight the role of the Board of Trustees as it relates to our school community. According to the International Trustee Handbook, the board “has the ultimate responsibility for the success of the school, now and over time. It is entrusted with making sure that the school remains faithful to its mission and values, is well-managed, and has a secure future. The board must keep its eye on the big picture while delegating the management of the school to the head.” This is why we go through the tedious process of external audits and campus redevelopment projects, along with several committees that guide the school. We take a big picture look while supporting the Head of School in her role of managing the school’s programs and operations. All trustees are current BIS parents who volunteer their time to ensure a brighter future for our community. If you’re interested in becoming a trustee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
